It uses a built up horizontal stab for strength and weight reduction (seen on the far end of the table). This isn't the lightest way to build, but I was looking for a tradeoff in weight for strength and durability. At the time, we tended to really hammer our planes at fun flys, so they had to be able to take a beating.
